National Work Zone Awareness Week 2017 is April 3-7. The event will be hosted by the State of Maryland. The national kick-off event will be held Tuesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. The physical location of that event has not been determined by the agency. ATSSA members will be notified by the Flash newsletter and through their respective chapters once this information is received.

National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual spring campaign held at the start of construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones. The key message is for drivers to use extra caution in work zones.
Be alert for children walking or crossing the streets. When the yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, traffic must stop. Never pass a bus from behind – or from either direction if you're on an undivided road – if it is stopped to load or unload children. The area 10 feet around a school bus is the most dangerous for children; stop far enough back to allow them space to safely enter and exit the bus

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, September 11-17, 2016, is when America takes the time to honor all professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in tackling one of our economy's most demanding and important jobs. These 3.5 million professional men and women not only deliver our goods safely, securely and on time, they also keep our highways safe.
Law enforcement agencies across North American will conduct inspections on large trucks & buses to identify out of adjustment brakes, brake-systems and anti-lock braking systems (ABS) violations as part of CVSA annual outreach and enforcement campaign designed to improve commercial motor vehicle brake safety throughout North America.
